This heritage village takes you back in time. It vividly portrays the life in a coal mining town between the 1870s- 1920s.

From its modest beginnings the village has grown in size and popularity and attracts thousands of visitors every year. It is now spread over 30 acres of bushland, with over 60 exhibits including a Coal Mine and various miners' cottages. A small locomotive meanders through the tranquil bushland, as a dedication to the importance of the South Gippsland Railway in pioneering the region.

It recreates an era when coal was the life blood of the state and supplied the power and energy to run it. A stroll down the main street will take you past cottages, a school, shops, a blacksmith and a courthouse all fitted out in authentic historical detail. The original mine tunnel, poppet head and mine manager's residence also provide a fascinating insight into how people lived and worked during that time.
