Melbourne International Film Festival

It is the biggest and most renowned festival in Melbourne. It brings you some of the best films in International cinema. It was established way back in 1952 and has since then come a long way and is still going strong.

Now in its 55th year, the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) once again hits Melbourne from July 26 – August 13, to give you a plethora of the finest films from all over the globe. It presents a diverse range of films touching on a variety of topics and draws the biggest crowd of movie buffs in Australia.

The festival provides an ideal venue where members of the film fraternity interact with each other and discuss their work. You can do celebrity spotting here.

The highlight of this festival is its renowned short film category with the largest prize money. In 2005 more than 1100 entries were registered, and it was the first time the entry tally topped the 1000 mark.
